Geological Survey of India denies reports of gold deposits in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh According to reports, the gold reserves are about five times more than India’s reserves. However, Geological Survey of India has come to the fore after rejecting the claim of District Mining Officer KK Rai that Sonbhadra has three thousand tonnes of gold.
Rai claimed gold was found in Son Pahadi in Sonbhadra district, which is mostly tribal inhabited by 2943 tonnes and 646.16 kg in Hardi. “No such information has been forwarded from the Geological Survey of India. GSI does not consider that Sonbhadra has such a large amount of gold deposits,” GSI Director General M Sridhar said.
